Welcome To Stepping Stones!

If you have ever been in our shop then you are familiar with this greeting! As many of you know, Gordon and I opened Stepping Stones Gift Shop in 2006. “The Shop”, as our family and friends refer to it, is a quaint little house in historic Gruene, Texas next door to the River House Tearoom.

We offer a lovely selection of enchanting gifts, beautiful home furnishings and unique accessories.
One entire room is devoted to inspirational books and music as well as a wide variety of children’s
Christian books, music and videos.

We have made so many friends since we opened the doors and feel like a true member of the neighborhood with our own signature style. We invite you to stop in at Stepping Stones when you are in Gruene and see what unique and inspiring things we have to offer as we continually strive to be decidedly different. Many of you have requested a venue to leisurely peruse the many items we offer, so we have crafted this online site that has that same unique flavor as our little shop in Gruene. Our website still has the cozy spaces, the wall textures and the instantly identifiable colors that characterize the store and lead you through our site. We value the relationships that we have formed with customers over the years and wouldn’t trade those interactions and conversations for anything. Community is our passion and we intentionally strive to provide an atmosphere that promotes community, peace, comfort, creativity and possibly a new perspective. Our hope is that our website will still reflect these things, as well as our reputation for personal, trustworthy and knowledgeable service. There will always be a smiling face with a cheerful voice available to answer questions, make suggestions or take your order over the phone. If you are shopping after hours just drop us an email from the link and give us a good time to call you back the next day. You will be able to customize items and have anything you purchase shipped to you or to someone else as a gift, beautifully wrapped in Stepping Stones fashion. We are thrilled with our new ability to play host to so many more people than ever before. We have many exciting events in the planning and will be posting them on our in-house bulletin board as well as our community corner bulletin board on the website.

Everybody asks...so where are the stepping stones? Well the inspiration for the name came simply from the fact that we view this opportunity as yet another stepping stone in our journey to fulfill our life’s purpose. Written on the back of every business card, which is tied to every bag that leaves the shop, is this:

Stepping Stones

Unlike a road or path, stepping stones guide and direct, one step at a time.
They lead to the known or the unknown.
They provide a solid level path for easier footing and protect us from what lies beneath.
If counted, they may be used to measure our progression toward our destination.
Taking the journey one step at a time requires more awareness to each step and must
be traveled at a slower pace.

We opened the doors to our new architecture and interior design firm in March. In keeping with our theme of stones, we named the new company Riverstone Designs. Be sure to visit us online! Gordon and I are busy doing what we love, designing and vision casting. We enjoy being creative in such an inspiring environment. As our studio overlooks the Guadalupe, we can't help but be influenced by the awesome composition of the riverbanks, soaring cypress trees,and of course the ever changing flow across the rapids.

God is richly blessing our family and our desire is to pass these blessings on to those who’s paths we cross.
